Set Design
Jo designed scenography, co-wrote and co-directed Season Of The Wolf with Sineád O’Brien. Responding through storytelling and dance to the eradication of wolves in Ireland by Oliver Cromwell, the show ran for the five weeks during Samhain 2025. Jo created set decorations and collaborated with digital artist Brendan Atkins to design an adaptable set, transforming between daytime family-friendly performances and evening 18+ shows.
The set was designed to allow an immersive game based on mummer traditions, featuring audience participation.
Costumes were designed by Jo and commissioned from a cross-border group of artists, including Brendan Farren, Jack Pierce and Síobhra Farrell.

Autumn 1653: Death and violence have been brought to the land by Oliver Cromwell. The Lord Protector’s iron hand is laying waste to ancient ways, casting a bloody shadow. Beyond the pale, rebels play tricks, a She-Wolf howls. Nothing will ever be the same again.
Season Of The Wolf sinks its teeth into Ireland’s darkest histories, myth and lore. Drawing inspiration from the Topographia Hibernica, Cromwellian propaganda as well as traditional games from the National Folklore Collection, the show curates a unique interactive experience for local and international audiences. Join us by the light of the moon, listen to twisted tales and seek the wildness within.

Local plants were foraged to integrate into the designs.
